Kratos and Atreus return for a new adventure to fight Norse gods and monsters.
The anticipated sequel to 2018’s God of War, Ragnarok has officially been given a release date with a CG trailer setting the tone for Kratos and Atreus’ new adventure. In 2018, the franchise was given a soft reboot or according to creative director Cory Barlog “a reimagining of the franchise.” God of War: Ragnarok is said to be the finale of the franchise’s Norse saga that may uncover more hidden secrets of Kratos’ past and a deeper connection to the Norse gods of the Nine Realms.
“We’re thrilled be able to share our release date and the brand-new God of War Ragnarök – Father and Son CG Trailer with all the God of War fans who have been eagerly awaiting news. We hope you’ve enjoyed a glimpse at some of the dangers Kratos and Atreus could find themselves up against as Ragnarök approaches.“

Despite the trailer not showcasing any gameplay we do know that during this new adventure, Kratos and Atreus will battle gods like Thor, the god of thunder, Freya, the protagonists’ former ally and the giant wolf in the trailer, Fenrir of Norse mythology. Many may recognize Fenrir as being the son of Loki. Fenrir does play a major role in the Norse story of Ragnarok but only time will tell if the story in God of War: Ragnarok will that way.
