The MV “Her” now we see someone other than yourself in the video haha. Care to explain a little about her, who she actually is, and what inspired this song to be made into an MV?

CK Noir
“The girl used in the video is actually my girl Jamey. The song was originally written before we had met, but she really inspired to bring the track to life. The whole video was basically an improv of me filming her by the ocean, and adding other scenery to the fit the mood. Shit turned out mad good, I was impressed with it.”

Your single releases have been pushed more (ie. ‘Drill Time’), is it something you planned on doing or was it something that you decided like “hey let me test this out and see the responses I’ll get”?

CK Noir
“The whole deal with drill time was really a personal issue more than anything. I grew up in both Cincinnati and Hamilton, so I was familiar with this Slim Jesus dude when I heard of his Hometown. It kinda pissed me off that he stole the whole Chi Drill scene style and kinda ran with it when the 513 (My home area code) is tryna establish their own hip hop scene and style. You can also just tell the dude isn’t about what he rapped, so I made the diss not to threaten, but school him on the consequences of talkin’ about shit like that. People gonna put you to the test, so it was just me saying some real shit if anything. I definitely knew it was gonna get some attention, but it did better than I had expected haha.”

Jay Million & Nino Corelone. I see and hear them a lot from you sharing them and the videos they’ve released on social media. Described them in a few words. And are they a part of the team you’ve mentioned before (Noir City 13 or NC-13)?

CK Noir
“They’re pushing their own movements, but I really consider anyone that I work with on a regular basis a part of my collective. NC13 is something that I’m going to turn to a brand, and really push once the music takes off. For now, it’s more of a small crew of my Homeboys, and fans that fuck wit my music.”

Ellis
Have there ever been those people that told: “You will never make it”? If so then, what do you have to say to them now if you have the chance?

CK Noir
“When it comes to people doubting me, I haven’t really had to deal with anyone that didn’t believe in what I do. Anyone who knows me, know that I put this music before anything. It’s the reason I make money, It’s the reason I don’t sleep, It’s the reason I don’t eat. I’m constantly trying to scribble in my notepad new ideas, track concepts, video concepts, or write some lyrics for an upcoming tape. I have the need for progress, so a lot of people tell me they have faith that I can make something serious with this music. If you see how my life has played out so far, you’ll see that it really puts me in this position to create the music that I do. Everything is for a reason.”

Ellis
Has anyone ever told you performing live is much different than when hearing it on a mixtape?

CK Noir
“I was shaken to be one of those rappers who only sound right in the studio, luckily I haven’t had that problem so far haha.”

Now you’re about to release what I assume is another mixtape entitled ‘Street Poetry’. When will it be released & can you give us a little insight what to expect from it.

CK Noir
“This is the question I been itchin’ to answer haha. Street Poetry is by far the most impressive project I’ve ever worked on so far. With that being said, I’m going to be doing a lot of promotion (Videos, Photos, Merchandising) in order to really give it the attention that I think it deserves. Due to the fact I’m looking to push it so much and also having my music professionally produced for the first time, it’s looking to be released Late January of 2016. You can expect this tape to be a whole lot more diverse than anything I’ve done in the past, and that goes for the videos too. I’m really upping the creativity and putting a lot of different concepts into play so that the tape will feel like a film when it’s listened to. A lot of personal and social experiences of myself and the features on Street Poetry will be showcased to give it a real authentic and gritty tale of the struggles of those who face poverty, violence, or their own demons. There are a couple tracks that will feed into those who wants something catchy as well, but for the most part, it’s real, true Hip Hop.”

Will we see a different ColdKid when ‘Street Poetry’ is released? It’s something I sense every time I hear a mixtape of yours. The intensity level goes up and the emotions come out overwhelmingly.

CK Noir
“Street Poetry is going to set the bar much higher than anything I’ve done before. I really think people are going to hear the maturity and growth in my music with this one.  There’re a lot of different feelings throughout the tape, and I think the tracks are played out well enough to bring those out in those that listen to it.”

Ellis
Tell us about 2016. If you could see in the future.

CK Noir
“I aiming for 2016 to really be the year I leave my mark in the music scene. I’ve spent this whole year building myself up, and taking music more serious than ever before. I think I’m finally ready to fully put myself out there and start showcasing what I got. I’m confident and hyped for what the future holds.”

Ellis
While back we discussed your parents, how are your parents feeling about your career as being an artist given the state of hip-hop & rap?

CK Noir
“My folks are a lot of the reason I follow this dream because they’ve supported me 100% through the whole thing. They were the first ones to know about my love for writing when they found my book of rhymes I had hidden in my room through grade school haha. It’s all about getting them right, and giving back to them, so I keep that support in my mind at all times.”

Ellis
ColdKid you’ve been an amazing guy since our inception. Can’t express enough how you’ve helped us in our cognitive thought process. Is there anything else on your mind you want to say?

CK Noir
“I appreciate what y’all do for me, always showing love and support. Shoutout to all the new supporters I’ve gained over the year, and shout out to everybody that’s been rocking with me since the beginning. Hopefully y’all see me in one of your cities soon, and keep a look out for Street Poetry coming soon. Thank you!”

Street Poetry” is set to be released on January 26th, we were fortunate to review it early so please check it out; thank you CK Noir for the honor.
