Early Wednesday morning, the folks over at Netflix and Lionsgate have given us a special valentine’s day present from the women in orange. It was all wrapped up and with a quick glimpse you better not blink. The new season of “Orange Is the New Black” will be making its return to Netflix on June 9th, 2017. It’s very appropriate for this news coming out since OITNB scored a SAG Award for ‘Best Ensemble in a Comedy Series.

You could only wonder what’s in store for the series’ direction given Danielle Brooks’ (Taystee) remarks to E! Entertainment having said, “It will be very detailed, very intense, and you better get ready”. Along with talking about the new season, she also told the E! that this season will have 13 episodes taking place over the course of three days. The main cast from season 4 is expected to return along with Laura Prepon (Alex) taking on a director’s role for an episode this season.

Netflix has truly become the place of must-see series as “Orange Is the New Black” is one of many series picked up for a new season (House of Cards, Grace & Frankie). The teaser doesn’t reveal too much but gives you a heart-pounding glimpse into Dayanora (Dascha Polanco) holding a gun which no inmate at Litchfield just simply has for fun.

Here’s the teaser:

“Orange Is the New Black” season 5 premieres on June 9th, 2017, starring Taylor Schilling, Uzo Aduba, Kate Mulgrew, Laura Prepon, Laverne Cox, Dascha Polanco, Danielle Brooks, Selenis Leyva, Samira Wiley, Taryn Manning, Yael Stone, Jackie Cruz, Lea DeLaria, Adrienne C. Moore and Elizabeth Rodriguez, along with Michael Harney and Nick Sandow.
