Slowly but surely news of the Tomb Raider reboot has finally been revealed as production has officially begun. Earlier this month, star Walton Goggins sent out a photo for the Tomb Raider screenplay, teasing the film’s shooting could start soon. That would evidently be confirmed from reports in December as it’s been made official by director Roar Uthaug. Aside from Alicia Vikander (Ex Machina) as Lara Croft and Walton Goggins cast as the villain, there has been a new addition to the cast with Daniel Wu (Into the Badlands) as ship captain Lu Ren.
According to Variety, Daniel Wu‘s character aids Lara Croft on her quest to seeking out her father. We can also expect some badass fight scenes with Daniel Wu a part of the cast as his character Sunny during the series Into the Badlands wasn’t too quick in kicking some at the expense of justice.
With the film over a year away from its release the details may come out a lot quicker than expected. The photo uses the logo of the 2013 reboot of the game franchise which received great acclaim and is said to be the inspiration for the reboot.
“Tomb Raider” will be distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures and MGM with a March 16th, 2018 release date scheduled.
