Mortal Kombat X: Kombat Pack 2 (Gameplay)

Written by: J. Johnson

After the reveal of Kombat Pack 2 from the legendary Ed Boon, the feelings were mixed as the Mortal Kombat Kommunity didn’t expect two new characters much less two new characters from different franchises (Xenomorph Alien & Leatherface). Even so it does add a new element to the franchise… Or maybe it’s just a way to include some of Warner Bros properties to the series. Especially given the fact that Jason Voorhees & Predator has also made their appearances and Warner Bros helped develop MKX.

It’s like one big family…. Kind of, but still Xenomorph Alien & Leatherface will be interesting picks, but veteran master Bo’ Rai Cho & cybernetic now multiple skin cyborg; Sektor, Cyrax, & Smoke are also in the mix. Fans may not like the horror franchise players, but the classic characters of Bo Rai Cho and Tri-borg (Sektor, Cyrax, & Smoke) pay homage to the classic characters although Rain, Sindel, Jade, or Baraka isn’t playable.

A few days ago, Ed Boon has revealed that new gameplay for this ‘Kombat Pack’ will be released next week.

It remains a mystery what exactly we will be seeing. We might get a trailer focused on one of the characters, or all of them. The trailer will likely have a release date for the first character, and a price. Kombat Pack 1 was $39.99, each character pack (that came with three skins) were $8.99 each, and each character was $4.99. Pricing will likely be similar.

Mortal Kombat X launched nearly a year ago on PS4, Xbox One, and PC to critical acclaim. Kombat Pack 2 adds Bo Rai Cho (first introduced in Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance), Tri-Borg (an amalgamation of Cyrax, Sektor, and Smoke), Leatherface from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre franchise, and the Xenomorph from the Alien franchise.
