WWEditorials Ep. III: Finn Balor: The WWE’s Next Big Superstar

Less than a year after signing with the WWE, it’s clear that Finn Bálor is destined to be the organization’s next big superstar. The Irish wrestler, who made a name for himself overseas as Prince Devitt, has become one of the biggest faces in NXT, all with barely saying a word. Instead, Bálor lets his natural charisma and hard-earned talent do the talking for him.

Aside from this, though, most people do believe this to be true. While some wrestlers spend a lot of time in NXT before being called up to the main roster, the common belief is that Balor will not be down in Florida for very long.

Everyone wants to know when he will be called up to the WWE’s main roster. According to Daily Wrestling News, Finn Balor is close to being at the WWE main roster, but a WWE official is hesitant on the idea.

“Vince McMahon reportedly wants Balor on the main roster as soon as possible, but Triple H is stressing that they should be patient and not rush it. Balor was assured that he wouldn’t stay in NXT for long and reportedly has a bigger downside than other talents.”

It’s not only Vince McMahon and Triple H that are high on Finn Balor, but Chris Jericho is as well. Jericho is slated to wrestle the WWE NXT superstar at future WWE live events. Because of Jericho’s contract with the WWE, he only works house shows.

If Finn Balor is wrestling WWE live events, he will be on the WWE’s main roster in the next few months. A few days ago, Balor spoke about moving up to the WWE main roster.

“A lot of people keep talking about this call up to the main roster but for most of us at NXT we all believe what we’re doing at the moment is equally as important and we’re all fully committed to that. I’m not in any rush to make a move to Raw or SmackDown. I’m very content at NXT and there’s a lot of challenges and a lot of milestones still to be achieved in NXT before I make any move.”

Balor will be at Survivor Series if the WWE wants to get him in a meaningful feud by August. As far as SummerSlam goes, that will be a risk for Triple H. It’s not Vince McMahon who doesn’t want to bring him up yet, but rather HHH.

Since WWE NXT is Triple H’s baby, it’s likely his final call whether a WWE NXT superstar comes up or not. McMahon may be the man on the main roster, but when it comes to Finn Balor, Triple H will say whether he gets called up or not.

There’s many reasons why Finn Balor is destine to be ‘The Next Big Thing’, but here’s a few that we see stand out more:

  • At only 33, Bálor already has 15 years’ experience in the professional wrestling world. And it shows.

  • He formed The Bullet Club, one of the most ruthless factions in New Japan.

  • Bálor won New Japan’s Best of the Super Juniors Tournament – twice! And the second time, he was undefeated.

  • His third reign as IWGP’s Junior Heavyweight Champion lasted an unprecedented 14 months.

  • Bálor can be both a heel and a face and this is the exact kind of flexibility the WWE needs right now. Along with his natural sportsmanship & entrances.
