During the 2024 Game Awards, Mafia: The Old Country full trailer dropped and its shaping up to be a deeply immersive return to the series’ gritty, story-driven roots. After the last couple of entries focused on the rise of organized crime in American cities, this latest installment takes the players back across the Atlantic to the very birthplace of the Mafia: the rugged hillsides and winding streets of early 20th-century Sicily. According to the official details on Mafia’s website, the game aims to deliver a more authentic look at the old world traditions, family ties, and the cultural complexities that have rise to the criminal syndicates we know from the original trilogy.
Set against a backdrop of rural farmland, coastal villages, and cramped urban neighborhoods, The Old Country will emphasize the tensions between honor, loyalty, and survival in a land define by scarcity and strict codes of conduct. You have to fight to survive by engaging in life-or-death combat. To prove himself worthy in the Torrisi family, Enzo will have to master all the tools of the trade, including period-authentic handguns, rifles, and shotguns, to overcome the odds to eliminate the Don’s enemies.

With Mafia: The Old Country, 2K and Hangar 13 appear determined to broaden the series’ legacy, illuminating the Mafia’s old-world origins and weaving a tapestry of complex characters, evolving loyalties, and shadowy deals. Fans who have long awaited a richer cultural backdrop, new mechanics, and a more nuanced story have plenty of reasons to look forward to this next chapter in the Mafia saga.
Mafia: The Old Country is slated for release in the Summer of 2025. Check out the trailer below and leave your thoughts in the comment section.
