The Left 4 Dead successor has the thirst to be unleashed.
Back 4 Blood is a co-op first person shote from the creators of Left 4 Dead. Being the center of a war against the Ridden, the once-human bent on devouring the remains of civilization, it’s up to you and your friends to bring the fight to the growing number of Ridden and reclaim the world.
The game takes place as an outbreak from a newly discovered parasite of alien origin has invaded the world. As majority of the population is infected and has turned into the “Ridden”, a veteran squad of “Cleaners” coming together to fight the undead. The squad includes characters Walker, Holly, Hoffman, Evangelo, Karlee, Doc, Jim and Mom. During the Xbox/Bethesda Games Showcase event, we were shown some features the game will have upon launch. Back 4 Blood can play with a team of four players or solo with up to three AI teammates.
In context to fan’s anticipation, Co-founder and design director of Turtle Rock Studios previously said in December 2020 said,
“Our fans have been waiting a long time for us to return to our roots and it’s amazing to finally show the world what we’ve been working on…We are making this game with our community in mind and are firing on all cylinders to give players a compelling zombie experience that is unlike any other.“
In a further look into Back 4 Blood, Turtle Rock Studios clarified how paid content will work in relation to maps, the campaign and elaborated on just content dropping in general,
In PvE, if your party leader owns a paid content drop, you will be able to play that content with them – including maps, gameplay, and the campaign. Players who don’t buy the content drops can earn new playable characters and Ridden in PvP, for free, through progression. Additionally, all PvP players have access to the same cards at the start of each match, regardless of whether those players have purchased content drops or not.

An open beta of the game is expected to be out in August before the game is finally out on the Xbox Game Pass, in October this year.
