Ok, three, two, one, let’s jam!
Yes, after waiting for so long it seems the cast for the live action adaptation of Cowboy Bebop has been revealed. The series will debut on the streaming powerhouse, Netflix later this year.
During the second day of Netflix’s Geeked Week, series’ stars John Cho, Mustafa Shakir & Daniella Pineda gave fans an update on how the production for the iconic series, along with a premiere date. Each cast member was also sporting costumes resembling the beloved characters, Spike Spiegel, Jet Black & Faye Valentine. The iconic jazzy theme song “Tanks” by Yoko Kanno, could be heard in the background.
The production initially was set to wrap up last year but experienced delays due to Cho’s on-set injury but it has officially wrapped up in March. Cowboy Bebop is a co-production between Netflix and Tomorrow Studios; with Netflix physically producing it. The premise follows the group of misfit bounty hunters as they search the galaxy’s most valuable criminals.
The teaser also gave us the surprised that the live action series will feature the original works of composer Yoko Kanno.
Cowboy Bebop will star Cho as Spike, Shakir as Jet, Pineda as Faye along with Alex Hassell and Elena Satine. A little tidbit that most fanatics of the series will appreciate much like the script shown at the end of each episode from the anime “See You Space Cowboy” catchphrase, the clip ended with the same nod reading, “See You This Fall“.
