After multiple rumors and speculation, Ubisoft has officially announced the next chapter in the Assassin’s Creed franchise with, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. The Ubisoft E3 Conference gave fans and players in the audience and those watching a wide-range of content that will be in the upcoming game. Odyssey looks to be drawing on the revamped RPG system from last year’s Assassin’s Creed: Origins while bringing in some new mechanics to the game.

This year’s game is focused on players choices as each player will be able to shape the hand of history in their favor. You can make dialogue choices, some of which alter the story. Unlike the previous games, you have the option of pursuing romantic relationships by making the right dialogue choices to earn their favor. An additional aspect of the game is the player being able to choose between playing as Alexios or Kassandra, who both have the same story and play identical, but only have different character models and voice actors. Your character has the role of a mercenary in the middle of the battling Athenians and Spartans but doesn’t take the side of either.

Last year’s Creed took place in Ancient Egypt, but this year, Odyssey will be taking place during Ancient Greece, where the founding principles of democracy were born. Specifically, the game is set in the time of 431 BC, which is during the middle of the Peloponnesian War, with prominent historical figures like philosopher Socrates and Hippocrates, the ‘Father of Medicine‘.

Now what’s else is there to talk about? The various editions that are available for pre-order. In addition to the standard edition, here’s a breakdown of the others:

  • Deluxe Edition – Extra gear packs and a “naval pack”. Along with XP and currency boosts.
  • Gold Edition – Season pass and early access to Odyssey starting on October 2. You may also get the Deluxe Edition bonuses.
  • Ultimate Edition – Season Pass and all deluxe edition content, along with early access starting on October 2

Everyone who pre-orders Odyssey will get access to another mission titled “The Blind King“. No further details have been revealed as of yet what this story will contain, but it will surely be fun as with the entire core game.

Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey will launch on October 5th for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
