John Wick ‘Chapter 2’: Tailored, Lock, & Loaded… John Wick Is Back!

Two years later….

The wait is finally over and for action fans that wait couldn’t come any sooner as the first trailer for John Wick: Chapter 2 arrived. In the first film, John Wick was left barely alive. In the sequel, it’s shaping up to be an action-thriller seeing the hitman, forced out of retirement by a former associate who is plotting to take control of an international assassins’ guild.

During the panel for John Wick: Chapter 2 at New York Comic Con, director Chad Stahelski, and writer Derek Kolstad—joined by actors Keanu Reeves, Common and Ian McShane—give the fans craving for any new details what they could expect from the highly-anticipated sequel. Since the beginning of production, the details have been in dark from the public eyes. However what was known is the focus on an entirely new group of assassins that Wick will have to team up with or kill. Safe to say, John Wick is another kill-joy situation.

During the New York Comic Con, Stahelski and Kolstad made some reveals that brought some reunions and new cast members to light. Actors like Ruby Rose, Common, and Laurence Fishburne will be joining Keanu Reeves. The most interesting one is the addition of Laurence Fishburne. “…17 years in the making…“, according to Reeves and Stahelski, as it the John Wick concept was worked on during the production on The Matrix.

“It was one of those ‘oh really?’ moments where I immediately told Chad that Laurence was interested,” – Keanu Reeves

“When we started writing the film, it was on the set of The Matrix and so the role that he has in the movie was intentionally written with him in mind as the character,” Stahelski added. “We don’t want people thinking we wrote him in at the last minute. This is something we have wanted to see happen for years.”

John Wick: Chapter 2 will star Keanu Reeves reprising his role as John Wick, along with stars Ian McShane, John Leguizamo, Bridget Moynahan, Thomas Sadoski, and Lance Reddick. The film welcomes new cast members Riccardo Scamarcio, Laurence Fishburne, Common, Ruby Rose, and Peter Stormare.
