It didn’t take Disney too long to announce that Pirates of the Caribbean will be getting its fifth installment as it was to be expected. Pirates of the Caribbean has been one of Disney‘s successful franchise in the last decade (despite the lackluster ‘On Strangers Tide‘). Given to account the lack of any new information being revealed it is still scheduled for release during the Summer of 2017. With that being said, today we finally got some “footage”. Sadly we don’t get to see the famed Johnny Depp reprising his role as Captain Jack Sparrow, but it reveals that the first look trailer was to debut on AMC, during the Fear the Walking Dead season finale.
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales is directed by Espen Sandberg & Joachim Rønning (the filmmakers behind Kon-Tiki) from a script by Jeff Nathanson (Catch Me If You Can, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull). The movie was shot entirely at Village Roadshow Studios and on locations within Queensland, Australia. We know that Johnny Depp returns to his iconic, Academy Award-nominated role of Captain Jack Sparrow, alongside Geoffrey Rush as Barbossa, Kevin R. McNally as Joshamee Gibbs and Stephen Graham as Scrum. Newcomers include Javier Bardem (No Country for Old Men), Kaya Scodelario (The Maze Runner) and Brenton Thwaites (Maleficent) and Golshifteh Farahani (Exodus: Gods and Kings).
Captain Jack Sparrow is pursued by an old rival, Captain Salazar, who along with his crew of ghost pirates has escaped from the Devil’s Triangle, and is determined to kill every pirate at sea. Jack seeks the Trident of Poseidon, a powerful artifact that grants its possessor total control over the seas, in order to defeat Salazar.
‘Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales‘ sails into theaters during the summer next year.
