There will be no difference from Thor: Ragnarok to other Marvel movies in terms of the visual outlook and thanks to the participation of the iconic Jeff Goldblum details are now being divulged for the upcoming superhero sequel. Goldblum would speak with Empire, explaining the appeal of tackling the role of cosmic pseudo-villain, The Grandmaster.

The Grandmaster is an ancient alien being that possesses the power of traveling back and forth through time. He has a penchant for staging elaborate to-the-death games and tournaments. Grandmaster is definitely an odd character in the Marvel universe. His manipulation can play a major part leading up to the final Avengers movie. Even though this odd character will be debut on the big screen soon, Goldblum talks about why this role was something he wants to take part in:

“He’s a hedonist, a pleasure-seeker, an enjoyer of life and tastes and smells. I thought, ‘I can do that, I’ll bet!’ I’m working on my part every day. I’m a sponge, researching…[director Taika Waititi] is encouraging me to improvise and make it my own, and that’s what I’m trying to do. I hope he doesn’t throw me out on the first day!”

A member of the Elders of the Universe in the source material, The Grandmaster has an obsession with playing games, which leads to recent rumors that his character will be running a series of gladiatorial games. That is also where we will reportedly find Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk in a Planet Hulk-inspired costume.

Chris Hemsworth returns as the God of Thunder, Thor, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Idris Elba as Heimdall, Sir Anthony Hopkins as Odin, Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie, Karl Urban as Skurge, and Cate Blanchett as the main villain Hella.

Thor: Ragnarok will hit theaters on November 3rd, 2017.
