Beauty And The Beast (2017): The Force No Match For Beauty
Written by J. Johnson
It was only something you heard about until the lovely actress, Emma Watson was cast to play Belle then, as the first Beauty and the Beast teaser trailer arrived online it became reality. Clearly it’s a longtime Disney stable that fans are excited to see especially from the success of the 1991 animated classic, now the magic is once again going to radiate the big screen as a live-action installment.
The Disney classic will have so much of the original film being adapted that the handsome and enchanting Emma Watson will be taking her talents to play the beauty while Dan Stevens (Downtown Abbey) will play the stubborn and brash beast. Apart from the two main characters driving the story, the film will also have big names that include, Ewan McGregor as Lumiere, Ian McKellen as Cogsworth, Luke Evans as Gaston, Josh Gad as LeFou, Kevin Kline as Maurice (Belle’s father), Emma Thompson as Mrs. Potts, Gugu Mbatha-Raw as Plumette, the feather duster and Stanley Tucci as a grand piano named Cadenza.
As anticipated as this movie has been it would be just another teaser if it didn’t break any records which it did. The teaser was viewed nearly 92 million times in its first 24 hours alone this week, beating the pathway of the force of Star Wars: The Force Awakens‘ teaser along with the latest Marvel film Captain America: Civil War & Avengers: Age of Ultron (all a part of the Disney family).
Confidence must be pouring out from Disney Studios as this risky move has them building a streak for their obsession with live-action revamps of animated classics. Maybe an Aladdin live-action film could break many records… I think it could only Disney has that power to make it a reality.
Expect this classic to stand the test of time once it hits theaters next year.
Beauty and the Beast magically hits theaters on March 17th, 2017.
