“Be the person that when your feet touh the floor in the morning the devil says, “Awe s***… They’re up!”   —Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson

Many nicknames are attached to him when he appears in or out of the ring. His presence for the literal sense sends chills up your spine whilst goosebumps crawl up your arms. It’s a testament to say such things when a man has provided such memorable entertainment that without a doubt there will never be a man like him for at least a very-very long time. His theme music has evolved from a “Blue Chipper” athlete to blowing the roof off arenas anytime he steps through the curtains to deliver another connecting message to the fans around the world. One nickname that sticks with him throughout his life and has evolved from one secular distinction to an overall perspective is “The Most Electrifying Man In All Of Entertainment”. In this edition of ‘WWEditorials’, we will explore the rise of the most charismatic and ever adapting career of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.

You can say that a fire was lit under the a** of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson after his debut in the WWE (known as the WWF at the time) during the 1996 Survivor Series. He was known as Rocky Maivia backed by the enormity of his heritage and family legacy weighing on him. After being booed and told to “die” by many fans his attitude changed along with the Nation as The Rock was determined to dominate.

An era that sticks with fans is the ‘Attitude Era’. Despite the freshness still lingering, The Rock was one of the few that help lay the foundation down for WWE’s most successful eras in its history. He rose to superstardom with catchy catchphrases, memorable segments, and rivalries with Triple H, Stone Cold Steve Austin, Mick Foley, and The Undertaker that it was simply magic being watched.

Whether it was his spot-on one-liners, bleeding all over the ring from an intense personal war with Steve Austin, captivating audiences in bursts of long laughter and chants during the Attitude Era he rarely grew stale in anything he did.

When he left for Hollywood some fans were sour with his decision to leave the squared circle. They looked at The Rock as the guy who would never leave, like a hero. However, no major, mainstream celebrity has ever shone as bright a light on the sports-entertainment industry as Johnson does every time he sets foot back inside a Vince McMahon-owned ring. He is, without a shadow of a doubt, one of the biggest and brightest stars on the planet—a household name as much for his contributions to the Fast and Furious franchise as his epic encounter with Hulk Hogan at WrestleMania X8.

His return to the squared circle in 2012 for a heated match against Cena, breaking numerous records, as WWE revealed in a press release.

Bigger and more prestigious than all of his Hollywood accomplishments, though, is the revelation Time magazine has included him in its TIME 100, a look at the most influential people in the world. Joining the likes of President Barack Obama, Oscar winner Leonardo DiCaprio, multi-time Grammy award winner Adele and countless others from the worlds of politics, film, music and leadership, Johnson has established himself as a titan in mainstream media. Some may attest to the fact that The Rock isn’t the one the greatest of all time, but there is no denying the pop culture phenomenon, international action star, and the most electrifying man in sports entertainment has carved himself one of the greatest legacies in WWE history.

With all that’s going on for the ‘People’s Champ, ‘ there’s a un-mutable law for Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson on regards to his in-ring return, it’s not over. We saw ‘The Great One’ take that long walk out during WrestleMania 32 where he set a record fo the fastest win at the event in 7 seconds against Erick Rowan. Even his old adversary John Cena made an impromptu return to help fend off The Wyatt Family. Despite his appearances throughout the entertainment world, he still has lots to give to professional wrestling for as long as he is willing to come back, the people will always embrace him with roaring chants of “ROCKY!” as finally The Rock has come back… home.

Happy Birthday Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson from all of us here at Sparx Entertainment
