Indiana Jones V
Following the success of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, rumors about another Indiana Jones installment have been making rounds on the internet.
The last time fans had a glimpse of the iconic character was in 2008 with Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, 19 years after Indiana Jones & the Last Crusade hit the theaters in 1989. It is not surprising that movie buffs are getting impatient about the release of the next Indy movie.
The Last ‘Indiana Jones’ Movie Came Out in 2008.
GOOD NEWS EVERYONE — Indiana Jones is ready to embark on yet another adventure, as confirmed by Disney Chairman and CEO Bob Iger during a recent interview with Bloomberg. During the chat, Iger talked about how Star Wars continues to be popular before mentioning the possible return of the famous archeology professor, saying, “and Indiana Jones, by the way, which will be coming.”
Since Disney got hold of LucasFilm for $4 billion in 2012, the company has also acquired the franchise rights for Indiana Jones from Paramount.
Who will play Indiana Jones? Will Harrison Ford be recast? How is it different from the most recent installment? When will it come out? Questions like these have been plaguing Indiana Jones geeks for some time now. Although the Disney big boss briefly mentioned that Indiana Jones 5 is in the works, he did not offer any more juicy information about the movie. Fans can only be certain that the studio is, without doubt, preparing for its return.
Kathleen Kennedy, CEO of LucasFilm, also confirmed back in May that Disney is planning on making a new movie for the Indiana Jones franchise but it is still unclear when it will start, adding that a script was not in development yet. In November, Kennedy revealed that Disney Studios Chairman Alan Horn was very supportive of returning to the adventure movie franchise and that she will be working with the production outfit on Indiana Jones soon.
As for now, all fans have to do is wait for more updates with the assurance that Indiana Jones 5 will definitely hit the theaters soon, since the big bosses have mentioned its revival numerous times. Disney bosses have not yet stated potential release dates, new casts and characters, and important plot details, but some speculate the film will be released by 2018.
There is limited information about the highly-anticipated action adventure movie, but one thing is for sure, Indiana Jones, just like the Star Wars franchise, is another film with the potential to drive lots of viewers and generate hefty revenues.
Also, rumor has it that actor Chris Pratt is being considered for the main role and that the original Indy, Harrison Ford is not reprising the famous character. However, Ford has repeatedly mentioned that he is more than willing to take on the role again and reunite with Steven Spielberg, who directed the first four chapters of the franchise. The original Indiana Jones has expressed his eagerness to get in on the action wearing his iconic costume: leather jacket, fedora hat, and whip.
Producer Frank Marshall made it clear that Disney has yet to announce if the 73-year-old veteran actor will reprise his role or pass his famous whip to the younger Pratt. Marshall added that they have no idea if the Spielberg will take on the job of directing the much-awaited movie, but to the celebrated director, Harrison Ford is the only one who can breathe life into Indiana Jones.
With the Disney higher-ups confirming its comeback on the wide screen, avid fans of Indiana Jones are hoping to hear official announcement soon.
