Mortal Kombat X: He Only Fights The Best For Honor; The Predator
Ever since the DLC was first announced ahead of the base game’s release, Mortal Kombat X players have been itching to see the iconic Predator introduced into the game. Now, video of the character’s all-important fatality has leaked to the Internet ahead of its addition into the game.
KommunityFinishHim uploaded a video of the Predator’s fatality to YouTube just yesterday, and it’s already been viewed more than 80,000 times. It’s clear that there are a lot of people eager for the alien to enter the Mortal Kombat X fray, as expected when such an iconic figure is added into a hugely popular title. Nevertheless it has since been taken down.
There are plenty of grisly techniques in Mortal Kombat X, but the Predator’s is certainly among the most stomach-churning. The unfortunate kombatant is impaled through the gut by a wrist blade then raised into the air — a smart disc through the brain finishes the job.
The Predator is set to be added into the game next month, although it’s being reported by Shoryuken that some players have seen the character show up already in Tower Mode. A similar occurrence was observed when Jason Voorhees was introduced into the game back in May.
Mortal Kombat X launched alongside the Kombat Pack season pass, which contains four characters: Jason Voorhees, Tanya, Predator, and as-yet-unreleased Tremor. The launch of each new fighter has been staggered, with Predator looking to follow the trend of around a month elapsing between new additions.
The way the DLC was promoted ahead of release caused some controversy among the Mortal Kombat community. Many felt that such a focus on paid downloads undercut the base game, while others were happy to see the developers at NetherRealm Studios being upfront about the situation.
Business practices aside, the Kombat Pack seems to have satisfied players thus far — however, given that the Predator is by far the most hotly anticipated bit of content in the package, we’ll have to wait until its release to see whether fans consider their money well spent.
Once the Predator and Tremor kombatants have been released, expect to see confirmation one way or another about NetherRealm’s plans for more DLC.Rumours of a second Kombat Pack persist, but nothing concrete has been said by those in the know. For now, we’ll just have to wait and see.
Mortal Kombat X is available now for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. A PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 port is still anticipated to launch later this year.
