Coming off from the reveal of Jason Voorhees and Predator being DLC characters to one of the greatest fighting games in the history of gaming, it was hinted that Liu Kang would be making a return to the franchise. With one of the DLC packs having Liu Kang’s classic skin included in the pack.
Although Mortal Kombat X has been set 25 years, after Mortal Kombat 9, Liu Kang was presumably dead after Raiden killed him once Liu realized Raiden’s ‘preminentions’ became the very reason for some of Earthrealm’s heroes to die (including Liu Kang).
Warner Bros. and Maxim Russia have teamed up for the latest Mortal Kombat X trailer. Released yesterday, the video offers a new look at the fighting game, and confirms that Liu Kang will return as a playable fighter.
The trailer also spotlights Kung Lao and Kung Jin. In addition, it offers some new details about Mortal Kombat X’s story.
Or at least, tells of a Zombie-ish, evil versions of them do. In a new trailer for Mortal Kombat X, we get to see evil, re-animated clones of Liu Kang and Kung Lao siding with Shinnok and other evils from the Nether Realm. Perhaps released a pit prematurely by Maxim Russia, the trailer has a brief glimpse of Bo’ Rai Cho in what seems to be a non-playable role. It looks pretty bad-ass. An evil Liu Kang is a far more interesting Liu Kang.
According to the description, it reveals that “Raiden’s champions of Earthrealm from the past have risen from the dead, under the control of the sinister former Elder God, Shinnok.”
The Mortal Kombat X release date is April 14 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. The Xbox 360 andPlayStation 3 editions, however, have been delayed.
