‘Insidious 3’ – The Dead Can Hear You
Insidious: Chapter 3 will take things back to earlier days, before the events of the first film. Instead of the demon haunting Josh Lambert (Patrick Wilson) and his family, we instead meet a horrific new entity that is haunting Quinn Brenner (Stefanie Scott) and her father (Dermot Mulroney), following the death of her mother. Either way, the result is the same: psychic medium Elise Rainier (Lin Shaye) is called in with her ghost-hunting team to exorcise the demon, leading to a showdown in the realm of the dead known as “The Further.”
While the first Insidious 3 trailer spooked fans out with a new creepy context and frightful ideas, this new second trailer really shows that this could be the rare horror threequel to really bring something fresh and strong to the franchise.

Insidious was one of the bigger factors in director James Wan’s (Furious 7, The Conjuring) breakout as a horror movie icon; Insidious 3 is being brought to the screen by Wan’s Saw and Insidious collaborator Leigh Whannell.
While having a horror movie maestro like Wan moving on from this franchise would typically be a bad sign, Whannell has not absorbed plenty of ideas from Wan, he’s also starred in every Insidious installment thus far (including this one), playing Elise’s ghost-hunting partner, “Specs.” That involvement both in front of and behind the camera – along with his creative proximity to Wan – should help to ensure that Insidious 3 is a creepy advancement for the franchise, instead of just a sequel cash-grab.
As ever, though, people remain divided in their reception of the entire Insidious franchise; for every person that praises the throwback scares of the original – and time-travel twists of the sequel – there is a also a different person who is very vocal about his/her disdain for these so-called “non-scary” films. Based on this latest trailer, which camp will be validated by Insidious 3?
Insidious 3 will be in theaters on June 5, 2015.
