‘Killing Floor 2’ (2015)
“Killing Floor 2” is coming to PS4 in 2015. Tripwire recently announced that they are making the Co-Op Sci-Fi Horror FPS game for the PlayStation 4. The news has been met with a mixed reception from fans of the original game.
This will be Tripwire’s debut on a major console. “Killing Floor” was released for PC in 2009 and with continued support and content from the developers has stayed a thriving multi-player FPS community. The sequel for the game is much anticipated by fans of the original and now it will be available for PS4 as well as PC in the new year.
“As a fiercely independent developer we have always wanted to ensure that when we made the leap to consoles it would be on our terms,” said John Gibson, Tripwire Interactive President. “We’ve been extremely impressed with Sony’s openness and fairness when dealing with developers both large and small. We are ecstatic to announce that we’re making a Fleshpound sized leap to console gaming by bringing KILLING FLOOR 2 to the PlayStation 4.”
The sequel is promised to have the same fast-paced, gorey fun as the first “Killing Floor” but with some improvements. Following the events of the original “Killing Floor 2” will take place a month after the events of the first game. Taking place in continental Europe the zombie-like Zeds have invaded and players will go on missions to exterminate the monsters.
With “Killing Floor 2” there will be even more gore from spurting blood to severed limbs as the game improves upon the features that made the original so fun. Favored enemies will be making a comeback in the sequel along with some new terrifying Zeds. New or old players can hack apart and blast away these Zeds with unique blend of weapons from classic guns to improvised bludgeoning tools.
“Killing Floor 2” is reinventing melee combat so players have control over the melee attacks they use to eviscerate enemies. An expanded perk system will also give players more control over how they play the game with the reimagining of the original perk system and having more added in. The new system will allow players to choose meaningful talents as they progress through the game and better differentiate a variety of play styles.
The game will have up to 6 player co-op in which there will be a variety of playable characters to choose from. Players can also play the game solo facing the horrors of science-gone-wrong on their own. The game hasn’t been rated yet but a Mature rating is expected.
Some fans are excited to have a fun gorey shooter for their console. Others are afraid that the addition to console’s will mean less support and dedication to PC where the franchise got it’s start.“Killing Floor 2” will be released in 2015 for PS4, PC and Steam OS.
