‘Pan’ Trailer Is Visually, Magical, and Adventurous
“Welcome to Neverland!” With the vocal boom of a carnival barker, Hugh Jackman helps kick off the first full trailer for Joe Wright’s Pan, a wondrous origin story for the legendary hero that will reinvent the fairy tale next summer.
You had me at “Joe Wright.” The director of such lush and mesmerizing epics as Atonement, Anna Karenina and Hanna puts a unique spin on the classic work of J.M. Barrie to portray young Peter Pan (newcomer Levi Miller) as a stolen orphan snatched by the crew of Blackbeard (Jackman) and transported on a wild and colorful adventure to Neverland.
The tone of Pan appears to aim right at families – particularly parents, playing up Amada Seyfried’s character as having to give up her child (and Peter’s tender hopes that he will one day reunite with her in another life).
But on a recent visit to the London set of Pan, Joe Wright told me specifically that he wants to up the action in this story and appeal to children who are the same age as his young son. He’s a father now, and that desire to entertain younger audiences will ensure that Pan goes for the humor and the heart as well as for the Yo Ho Ho of it all. Will you be brave enough, Peter?

Hugh Jackman Is Unrecognizable as Blackbeard in New Pan Movie Trailer, the 46-year-old actor is nearly unrecognizable in the newly released trailer for the upcoming Pan movie. In the Peter Pan remake, Jackman stars at villainous pirate Blackbeard. For the role, Jackman sports a crazy hairdo and meticulously trimmed facial hair.
This version of the “Peter Pan” movie follows the WWII orphan. He will be abducted by Blackbeard’s clownish henchman from his bed at the Lambeth Home for Boys. After that abduction, Peter will be spirited away to Neverland by the baddie’s magical flying ship.
Unlike other “Peter Pan” movies, the protagonist Pan (Levi Miller) and the antagonist Capt. Hook are friends in this adventure flick.
The setting of this film is set where Peter Pan is a little boy and James Hook or Capt. Hook is also a young man. Hook (which played by Garrett Hedlund) is a modest American-accented miner. He will help Peter escape slave labour.
The Oscar nominee Rooney Mara play the role of Tiger Lily. In the trailer she wears pink eyeshadow and a Peruvian-inspired headdress and supermodel Cara Delevingne plays the role of a mermaid.
“Les Misérables” star Amanda Seyfried play the role of Mary, the woman who mysteriously abandoned Peter along with a letter.
In the trailer, she reads, ‘My dearest peter, I long for the day that I can come back to you and explain everything. You are extraordinary, more than you can imagine. I promise that you will see me again in this world or another.”
When Blackbeard encounters Peter, the young boy told him “I don’t believe in bedtime stories.”
Pan will be in theaters on July 17, 2015.
