WWE: Kurt Angle No Longer Interested In A Return?
When Olympic gold medalist Kurt Angle’s contract with TNA Impact Wrestling expired, many thought he would head back to the WWE for one last run before retiring. However, despite Angle saying that he wanted to finish his career in the WWE, the company never wanted him to return because of his history and liability issues. Now, PWS reported on Sunday that it looks like all talks between Kurt Angle and the WWE have ended and he will remain in TNA Impact Wrestling.
Kurt Angle wanted to return to the WWE and work a part time deal, similar to what Shawn Michaels did before he finally retired from wrestling. However, Triple H made it clear that he was not interested and when Angle went above Triple H to Vince McMahon, the chairman said it was Triple H’s call. The WWE rumors indicate that the company offered Angle a full time deal, knowing that he would not want to work that schedule.
With the WWE doing what they could to make Kurt Angle realize that they didn’t want him back, Angle had no other choice but to return his attention to TNA Impact Wrestling. Angle has long credited TNA and owner Dixie Carter for helping him through some rough patches of his life and sticking by him to help him overcome his addictions. Now, it seems like Angle will finish his career with that company.
TNA Impact Wrestling has no television contract after the end of the year, but rumors indicate that they will strike a new deal with Spike TV and remain on that network for a lower pay deal. That will mean that TNA Impact Wrestling will have to make cuts, but they need some stars and Angle is their biggest. The idea is that, since the WWE wasn’t interested, Angle will likely sign a 12 to 18 month part time deal and then retire from professional wrestling.
