William Shatner may be returning to the Enterprise.

On Monday the iconic actor, who personified adventure handsomeness as Captain James T. Kirk for several generations of television and movie watchers, implied he was indeed returning to the storied franchise.

Before the tweet, Shatner admitted he was contacted by J.J. Abrams, who is producing but not directing the new movie. Badass Digest, which first broke the story of Shatner being approached for a cameo, is saying the actor would share a scene with Chris Pine, who plays the young Kirk — as well as the two Spocks, Zachary Quinto and Leonard Nimoy.

The I’m baaaaccckk!!! Mr. Shatner tweeted was later followed by another tweet clarifying his I’m back tweet to mean back in Los Angeles. Mr. Shatner also removed that tweet to stop any possible confusion. I saw the same tweet that you did and made the same conclusion. Just an FYI..

I do hope he does return to the big screen one more time in the Star Trek universe even if he is playing the future Captain Kirk to Chris Pine’s Kirk.
