CD Projekt Red has finally lifted the veil on The Witcher IV, unveiling a debut trailer that places fan-favorite character Ciri front and center. Though Geralt of Rivia’s saga reached a satisfying conclusion in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and its expansions, this next installment is set to chart bold new territory as players step into Ciri’s boots and guide her through a world reshaped by past conflicts, lingering magic, and fresh political tensions.
Ciri was last seen facing her own destiny in The Witcher 3, but now she’s depicted in the new cinematic trailer hunting monsters for profit. According to an article from IGN.com Kalemba explains that, following the events of The Witcher 3, Ciri has undertaken the famously painful Trial of the Grasses which has mutated her into a powerful and resilient warrior.

Of course, shifting the spotlight to Ciri would also open new gameplay possibilities. Her teleportation abilities and fast-paced swordsmanship stand apart from Geralt’s more methodical approach, suggesting a fresh feel to combat and exploration. While maintaining the hallmark narrative depth and player-driven decision-making that defined the franchise, The Witcher IV could leverage Ciri’s perspective to broaden the series’ horizons. Her journey might allow players to explore unfamiliar corners of the Continent—or beyond—while encountering new factions, forging alliances, and uncovering secrets that were only hinted at before.
