Grand Theft Auto VI: Game’s Location Revealed and Female Protagonist
New update in the new Grand Theft Auto installment.
In a little unexpected news of the day, Grand Theft Auto 6 got a little more validation in terms of its location(s) and character the player will control in GTA’s story. Rumors swirled about a female protagonist taking center stage in this installment and those rumors have indeed been confirmed. It’s been a huge step in the gaming industry to see many games focus on female leads and telling their stories amongst the collective of men that have graced the generations of consoles. Games likes, The Last of Us: Part II, Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey, Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice and Horizon Forbidden West are pillars in telling original compelling stories with female leads. Additionally, the game will be much different than Grand Theft Auto 5 and have some similarities to Grand Theft Auto: Vice City.
According to a report from Bloomberg, Grand Theft Auto 6 will have a playable female protagonist which is said to be of Latin American descent and won’t be the only playable character. Instead this game will center around a pair of protagonist, both of whom are thieves, much like Bonnie and Clyde. The report also sheds light on how scope of the game has been reduced. It was originally pitched that the area for GTA6 would be modeled after parts of North/South America but it seems the team will be heading back Vice City.
In the Bloomberg report it was also stated that the company has since been cleaning house of its “a boys’ club” culture along with company rebuilding their image into “a real company“. That would explain why the re-release of GTAV has shown a different tone in the removal of transphobic jokes and the cutting of canceled online mode called Cops ‘n’ Crooks according to Jason Schreier.
There hasn’t been too many updates other than this one but its obvious that Grand Theft Auto will most likely be released on the Series X|S & PS5 consoles when its officially done but guess we just have to wait and see.
