The sequel to Breath of the Wild features some new gameplay.
This year marks the 35th anniversary of the Legend of Zelda series and Nintendo has a few releases lined up to celebrate. The HD remaster of Wii’s Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword which launched on the With on July 16th. Nintendo also revealed and a new Legend of Zelda Game and Watch system during the Nintendo Direct presentation with three games releasing in November. Additionally, the continuation of Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity will launch Pulse of the Ancients DLC which will launch on June 18th.
After this heavy lineup, producer Eiji Aonuma confirmed that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 was confirmed to be making some progress. Aonuma would also showcase new footage of the untitled sequel as he has confirmed that some of the game will take place in the sky, “Return to Hyrule, and the skies above.” It makes sense that this piece of footage is shown given the remastered release of Skyward Sword’s events takes place in the sky and is said to be the start of all the events of the Legend of Zelda.
The Breath of the Wild sequel was first announced during E3 2019, and Nintendo has been teasing the game will take a more darker tone which seems to be shown in the teaser trailer below:
