There’s no doubt the 2015 sports drama, Creed was a tremendous success. Not only reviving the Rocky franchise but breathing new life by taking the focus off of Balboa and expanding on the Creed family. Yesterday morning, we got our first glimpse at Creed II in the form of a poster. It depicted a simple black-and-white poster with Michael B. Jordan as Adonis Creed, standing in front of a giant roman numeric 2. The caption read, “Know his name“.

Today, we saw the trailer for ‘Creed II‘ as it’s primary focus depicts the struggles of Adonis living up to his own legacy and trying not to make the same mistakes as his father. Rocky Balboa also chimes in as he informs Creed that his next opponent may be too dangerous to handle. However, this fight is something his family may find all too familiar as his next opponent happens to be Viktor Drago, son of Rocky‘s former nemesis Ivan Drago.

Here’s the official premise:

Life has become a balancing act for Adonis Creed. Between personal obligations and training for his next big fight, he is up against the challenge of his life. Facing an opponent with ties to his family’s past only intensifies his impending battle in the ring. Rocky Balboa is there by his side through it all and, together, Rocky and Adonis will confront their shared legacy, question what is worth fighting for, and discover that nothing is more important than family.

Stallone was originally set to direct and write the movie but ultimately stepped aside stating, “The character of Adonis Creed reflects this generation and its challenges. I believe it’s important for the director to also be a part of this generation like I was in mine, to make the story as relatable as possible.

Steven Caple Jr. will direct the film as Ryan Coogler will serve as an executive producer. Co-written by Stallone and Cheo Hodari Coker. The film will star Michael B. Jordan, Sylvester Stallone, Tessa Thompson, Dolph Lundgren, Phylicia Rashad, Andre Ward, and Wood Harris.

Creed II will be released on November 21st, 2018.
