The Last of Us Part 2: Factions Mode Makes A Return

In the original The Last of Us, one thing of many aspects about the game that helped was the multiplayer portion of the game dubbed Factions. The original Factions mode provided a narrative of a clan of survivors, with special meta-challenges improving certain conditions if you succeed or it could worsen if you failed. If you would lose your entire clan during the mission, you could even get a “game over” even though you could start over immediately as the action just continues. When Sony revealed a new trailer for The Last of Us Part 2, many fans wondered if Factions Mode would return. Naughty Dog would reveal that first game’s multiplayer mode will return, but this is the opportunity they need to fix some of the issues from the previous game.
Co-director Anthony Newman casually confirmed the return in an interview with GameSpot, saying “Factions is coming back” however, co-director Kurt Margeneau would try to retract the statement by saying “Multiplayer is coming back. We’re not going to talk details yet about what form that takes, but we can confirm there will be multiplayer.“

The Last of Us Part 2 is set a many years after the first game and this time the player will take on the role Ellie. The game will be exclusive to the PS4 without a specific release date, but in the coming months, details are sure to arise. Stay tuned for more updates about The Last of Us Part 2.
