In a galaxy far, far away an untold story about a Bounty Hunter may be told.
As Solo: A Star Wars Story will be making its rounds in theatres this weekend there seems to be another Star Wars story in the works. Although it hasn’t been confirmed by Disney and Lucasfilm as of yet, it has been confirmed that James Mangold will be at the helm of the next Star Wars spinoff. Mangold will not only direct but also co-write the Star Wars standalone as it’s centered around the most feared bounty hunter in the Star Wars’ galaxy, Boba Fett.
Writer-producer Simon Kinberg is closely involved with the creative process for the Boba Fett standalone. However, it will be set in a separate movie universe which, is not associated with Star Wars: The Force Awakens or the upcoming Episode IX. It was previously reported that talks of a Boba Fett film was in the works for some time now and director Josh Tank was working on it — until Lucasfilm fired him during the filming of Fantastic Four for his disruptive antics on set.
Another standalone Star Wars film that’s rumored to be in the works is the Obi-Wan Kenobi film with Stephen Daldry in talks to direct but again it’s not official as of yet. It’s interesting to note, Lucasfilm has a number of unofficial spinoff projects in development it’s just a matter of Disney and Lucasfilm is willing to move forward with them.
