On January 25th, Netflix‘s original series library has announced a new addition that comes in the form an adaptation. The New York Times best-selling novel ‘13 Reasons Why‘ will officially debut on the streaming platform on March 31st. The series will consist of 13 episodes which will all be released simultaneously. Along with the announced release date came the official synopsis:
The new series follows teenager Clay Jensen (Dylan Minnette; Goosebumps & Don’t Breathe) as he returns home from school to find a mysterious box with his name on it lying on his porch. Inside he discovers cassette tapes recorded by Hannah Baker (newcomer Katherine Langford)—his classmate and crush—who tragically committed suicide two weeks earlier. On one of the tapes, Hannah explains that there are thirteen reasons why she decided to end her life. The question is will Clay be one of them? “13 Reasons Why” will definitely be a heart-wrenching story of life being a teenager that will deeply hit viewers at their core.
One of the Executive Producers in this series is Selena Gomez, gave her 108 million followers on Instagram a sneak peek into what she called “a passion project”:
“13 Reasons Why” is directed by Oscar Winner Tom McCarthy (Spotlight), Written by Tony and Pulitzer Prize Winner Brian Yorkey (Next to Normal), and executive produced by Selena Gomez, Joy Gorman, and Brian Yorkey. It will also star Kate Walsh, Brian D’Arcy, Derek Luke, Brandon Flynn, Justin Prentice, Alisha Boe, Christian Navarro, and Tommy Dorfman. The series is a produced for Netflix by Paramount Television.
