Oscar season is coming and approaching fast so you know the biographical films will be making the theaters rounds shortly. Despite Nate Parker‘s ‘The Birth of a Nation‘ getting an array of negative publicity, it seems Fox Searchlight Pictures is attempting to redeem themselves with a portrayal of the ages. You wouldn’t have imagined Academy Award-winning actress, Natalie Portman to portray such an iconic figure in American history.
‘Jackie‘ is an emotional and intimate moment that captures one of the most important and tragic moments in American history as it’s seen through the eyes of the iconic First Lady, then Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy (Natalie Portman). The film is placed during and immediately into her world following her husband’s (John F. Kennedy) assassination. Jacqueline was known for her extraordinary dignity and poise, in the film, we get a more psychological portrait of the First Lady as she struggles to maintain her husband’s legacy and the world of “Camelot” that they created and loved so well.
The trailer has an appropriate quote from Portman saying, “People like to believe in fairytales”. “There should be more horses, more soldiers… more crying, more cameras…”
Pablo Larrain‘s biopic of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis has been moving audience since its world premiere at the Venice International Film Festival this past September.
Jackie is directed by Pablo Larrain and written by Noah Oppenheim, starring Natalie Portman, Greta Gerwig, Billy Crudup, John Hurt, and Peter Sarsgaard. The film is produced by Juan De Dios Larrain, Darren Aronofsky, Mickey Liddell, Scott Franklin, and Ari Handel.
