Captain America “Civil War” (2016): One Helluva Punch! (International Trailer)

Marvel has released a Captain America: Civil War international trailer online. Directed Joe and Anthony Russo (Captain America: The Winter Soldier), the first film of Marvel’s Phase Three slate picks up where Avengers: Age of Ultron left off as Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers leads a new team of Avengers. After another international incident involving the superpowered team results in collateral damage, the government—and former Avengers member Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.)—begins to meddle with their practices, all the while a new villainous threat looms.

This Japanese trailer only features a few new shots (if that), but it’s still effective, and the movie remains one of my most-anticipated films of 2016. Captain America has never gotten this kind of spotlight when he was featured in the comic books, but seeing how they depict him in the movies is breathing new life in the Captain America/Steve Rogers character. You have to admire the approach from Marvel.

Here’s the synopsis:

“Captain America: Civil War” picks up where “Avengers: Age of Ultron” left off, as Steve Rogers leads the new team of Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity. After another international incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability and a governing body to determine when to enlist the services of the team. The new status quo fractures the Avengers while they try to protect the world from a new and nefarious villain.

Check out the Captain America: Civil War international trailer below. The film also stars Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Paul Bettany, Jeremy Renner, Don Cheadle, Elizabeth Olsen, Paul Rudd, Emily VanCamp, Frank Grillo, William Hurt, Daniel Brühl, and Tom Holland. Captain America: Civil War opens in theaters on May 6, 2016.
