Tier 1 Wrestling Presents: ‘Rise Or Die Trying’ (2015)

It’s time for one of two main events of the night, the FIP Heavyweight Championship is on the line featuring two determined and experienced wrestlers on the indie circuit. Gran Akuma made his way to the ring with a good reception ready for the shot to be the new FIP Heavyweight Champion. Caleb Konley would make his way to the ring just as focused as Akuma. The two would face off against each other at the ‘Rumble in the Concrete Jungle‘ event held a couple of months ago. It turned out to be an edge-of-your-seat match showcasing what wrestling is really about. In the eyes of many wrestling is the tool in which words are not the way to project a message. They did just that after the fans clamored for more. In this event, Gran Akuma delivered one hard hitting blow after another. Konley had to leave the ring to gain his composure, after all, that, but even getting back into the ring he would be put in an assortment of submissions. Towards the end, it seemed like Akuma would come out victorious, but Konley would grab the tights in a roll-up pin to win the match and retain his championship.
It was announced that on 3/20, Tier 1 Wrestling will present a never-before-seen dream match between Ring of Honor’s ‘Unbreakable’ Michael Elgin and the current reigning and defending EVOLVE Champion, Timothy Thatcher! This is one event that you do not want to miss!
Earlier in the night, Logan Black & Conor Claxton would try their best to come back to Tier 1 by invading the show and ruining the promotion’s big night but was stopped by security before anything could happen. Mike Orlando and Joey Ace would be the ones to come out and confront the vicious team as they’ve had problems with each other in the past. After all that Black and Claxton managed to make their way back in the building to once again confront Tier 1. Mike Orlando would make his way to the ring with Ms. New York, Anna Theresa Treppiedi by his side. Orlando would grab the mic and want security to allow them in the ring. Black and Claxton would get in the ring and brawl with Orlando all over the ring. Joey Ace would join in, but turn on Orlando continuing the mugging with Black and Claxton. Orlando would get a stiff superkick to the face taking out, by his former friend Ace. Anna would have no choice, but to see her man get beat down in the middle of the ring. Ace yelled out, “This is what happens when you bring your girl into the business!” and went on to explain that he joined Black and Claxton because he was screwed out of the # 1 Contendership, and overlooked for the EVOLVE and FIP opportunities. A shocking turn of events given the circumstances that surround this deep rooted hatred.
Next up was the Fatal 4-Way match featuring some very talent yet egotistical wrestlers, but that didn’t cloud the talent they displayed in the ring. We interviewed Ethan Page a Canadian wrestler who dominated the Ontario area before, he comes off as a very laid-back individual that doesn’t allow anything bother him in the slightest, but him speaking about his passion for wrestling says that he’s ready to come back and take the circuit by storm like he does in EVOLVE. The other competitors are equally as accomplished as Ethan adding a level of variety to the mix.
This match was a ‘feel-good’ match as we seen a lot of shenanigans being played in this match especially when Mike “Man of Steel” Verna leaped over the ropes onto VsK & Morris and Page was supposed to follow, but he run to the ropes in mock slow motion going through them and hitting an axe handle maneuver onto VsK & Morris. Page used his wit, and an entertaining role reversal with the referee, to his advantage, Verna used his unmatched strength, and Morris used his speed and finesse, VsK’s strategy were simply to use the match stipulation. It all worked out, but it saw VsK would pick up the victory by tossing Page out the ring and taking advantage of a vulnerable Morris who was hit by Page‘s finisher.
Tier 1 Championship
“The Southern Stomper” Luke Hawx (c) vs. “The Fresh Prince Of Shaolin” RudeBoy Riley
Ladies and gentlemen, IT’S TIMEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!
These two bitter rivals have been through battles, but even though this is the height of the war anything can come out of this. Even when others say it’s predictable the golden truth is pro wrestling can still have that aura of unpredictability. With everything ready for this big match of the night, Riley would come out the corner gun’s blazing on the champion. Throwing caution to the wind bringing Hawx on the defense. Riley had a point to prove and wasn’t going to let Hawx getting over on him like before. Hawx would come back with some offensive shots. You could literally hear the sound of pain shoot from Riley. The match had the feeling of the veteran vs the newcomer with the way both Hawx and Riley carried themselves. Hawx has spanned his career as a wrestler for more than a decade asserting his hunger to be the best. The same can be said, about Riley as his high energy, boastful talent in the ring, and intriguing look it spells success for the wrestler who has been in the industry for some time.
There was a moment in the match where the referee got caught in the crosshairs of the match. It allowed The Bravado Brothers to interfere in the match to help Luke Hawx, but Alex Mason & Sonny Kiss would make their way to even the odds for Riley. The FEDERATED would make their presence known, but Ethan Page & Mike Verna would follow. All hell broke loose as the chaos spilt out the ring only leaving the challenger, RudeBoy Riley and champion, Luke Hawx in the ring to finish the match. The champion and challenger would exchange hard-hitting punches trying to get the best of one another. Riley would push Hawx into the ropes catching him with a pop-up knee to the face. Riley would capitalize on that maneuver getting the three count pinfall to become the NEW Tier 1 Champion. Sonny Kiss, Alex Mason, Gran Akuma, Travis Gordon, and Space Monkey went out to the ring to celebrate with the new champ to close the show.
