The Fung Bros VII: GQ ‘Street to Chic’
Fashion is defined as a style of dress that is popular during a certain time or era. It does not coordinate only towards clothing. It also coordinates hair styles, make-up and music. Each of these depends on the type of clothing chosen. Even though fashion reflects a person’s social class in old days, it has been reflecting personality for half a century. Music, TV programs and ideologies started to influence the people. We can tell a lot about a person by the way that they are dressed. Because of the new trends, there have been some significant changes in fashion after the 1960’s to 2000’s.
The Fung Bros and Richie Le take to that side of pop culture with fashion. Not really a normal topic for the trio, but they go from sneakers and streetwear (guys judging guys) to a more fully developed outlook for menswear. This time, they sought the help of famous fashion blogger Wendy Nguyen from ‘Wendy’s Lookbook.’
Wendy is a self-made woman in the sense that everything she has now wasn’t given to her. She’s been able to work hard for herself to become the woman she is today having gone through the foster care system, working three jobs, and finally going to college graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology. There’s no question that The Fung Bros. have chosen the right person to help them with this topic.
“Fashion is a vehicle for me to play with shapes and colors in order to uncover my personal style.”
-Wendy Nguyen
In the video, you can see the techniques that lead to reassuring thoughts of Wendy’s ability to dress a man even though she mainly focus on women. Andrew, David, and Richie all make the best out of the fashion advice from Wendy. Andrew took the guitar and began singing that inspirational Wiz Khalifa’s song from Furious 7, but it was all in good fun. David definitely goes for brogue with his knowledge of fashion. Richie comes into his own when his round comes up; trying not to give up his Jordan’s but eventually becomes comfortable with the new pair he’s given.
Even though they stepped out of their elements in terms of fashion Andrew, David, and Richie take up some good advice from Wendy. But one thing is for sure they can always take a topic that some get lost in and make it a fun journey. Like we’ve always known the educational factor in The Fung Bros’ videos are definitely a great style to the execution.
