WWE: Ronda Rousey Promises To Find A Way Back To WWE

Ronda Rousey is in the news a lot this week because she’s got a new book, she’s on the cover of Sports Illustrated calling her the “World’s Most Dominant Athlete” and in addition to her dominance in the UFC, she’s got a lot of potential as an actress. The woman is in high demand right now. That demand includes a potential future appearance in World Wrestling Entertainment as well.

When Rousey appeared at WrestleMania 31 with The Rock to confront Triple H and Stephanie McMahon, it was a shocking moment that got people talking because it wasn’t advertised and it wasn’t leaked beforehand either. It was a genuine surprise. She handled herself very well as she intimidated Stephanie and took Triple H down with a hiptoss. The crowd loved it. Most importantly, she looked like she belonged in a WWE ring.

During an appearance on the MMA Hour yesterday, Rousey talked about wanting to do more with WWE: “I’m going to find a way. Somehow, some way, some day. I just have no clue when. I’m willing to find a way to get back in there. I don’t know how it would be possible in the foreseeable future. It’s definitely not possible for a very, very long time, I have an extremely full schedule.”

The reason it’s not possible is because UFC President Dana White has come out to say it’s not going to happen. She has a long term deal with UFC and if they don’t want her having a match in WWE then they can probably get it shut down. That’s why a Ronda vs. Stephanie match seems unlikely. However, it’s possible that UFC could agree to letting Rousey appear in The Rock’s corner at WrestleMania 32 against Triple H with Stephanie McMahon in his corner. Obviously we have ten months to figure that out, so there’s a lot of time to get that sorted.

The good thing for fans wanting to see Rousey in WWE is that she’s only 28 years old. Let’s say she competes in UFC for another four years or so and calls it a career. After that, she’d be free to do what she wants and her name might be even bigger in the future than it is now. She could have several matches for WWE at that point and her drawing power would be massive.

From WWE’s perspective, they must be happy to know that one of the most popular athletes alive wants to be in their ring one day. She admits she doesn’t know when it might happen, but if it’s something she wants to pursue then WWE will likely be very willing to open their doors to bring her in.

WWE using Rousey in a match down the road is a no brainer. She’s a huge draw and would be a tremendous asset to the company.
