Contrary to reports in the last week of April that the highly-anticipated crossover action role-playing video game “Kingdom Hearts 3” will be launched at the D23 Expo 2015 to be held in August 14 to 16 at the Anaheim Convention Center in California, Square Enix clarified that the D23 Expo that it is referring to is the Japan version of the event which will be held on November 6 to 8 at Tokyo Disney Resort.
Apparently, Square Enix is not just planning to launch the gameplay trailer of “Kingdom Hearts 3” during the event but shall also divulge other details of the upcoming video game on the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One including its likely mobile version, notes Youth Health Mag.
Game director Tetsuya Nomura confirmed that “Kingdom Hearts 3” will make an appearance in the Japan D23 Expo to be held in November.
Nomura disclosed that Square Enix is planning some interesting things for the event. He said that “Kingdom Hearts 3” has been in development since 2013 and thus far, everything is going on smoothly and according to plan.
But he assured gamers and enthusiasts that they will make some new announcements including smartphone-specific development for the series.
While there have been hints in the past that Square Enix may release the game on the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One towards the end of this year, it appears that the date is already out of the question and it is most likely that the roll out would happen in 2016 instead.
It would be a fitting event for Square Enix to launch the gameplay trailer of “Kingdom Hearts 3” since D23 Expo is the largest Disney fan event in the world. D23 Expo celebrates all the wonderful worlds of Disney and unites all parts of The Walt Disney group of companies.
In the middle of April, Square Enix disclosed that it still fine tuning the game’s visuals and quality because it is experiencing troubles with the image processing of “Kingdom Hearts 3.”
Tetsuya Nomura disclosed that his team is currently doing research concerning graphics of the game to be able to meet the technical requirements of the next generation gaming consoles.
He said that the development team is not satisfied with the current look of the game so they are all working heavily to ensure that “Kingdom Hearts 3” comes out perfect in terms of visuals and quality. The creator said that when the game is finished, it will have brush-like visuals.
In addition to the fine tuning works that the development team is doing on “Kingdom Hearts 3,” Nomura also revealed that the other cause of the delay is the fact that the game’s development team is also busy with other projects for Square Enix including “Final Fantasy Versus III.
While “Kingdom Hearts 3” is the third game in the well-loved and appreciated role-playing game series from Square Enix, it is actually the first installment in the series that shall be released on more than one gaming console. Its predecessors were released exclusively on the PlayStation consoles.
The game features the protagonist Sora as he sets forth on an adventure with the classic Disney characters Mickey, Donald, and Goofy.
“Kingdom Hearts” was released on the PlayStation 2 in March 2002 and earned an average score of 86.4% on GameRankings. Four years later, the game has sold over 5.6 million copies.
“Kingdom Hearts 2,” on the other hand, was released in the PlayStation 2 in 2005 and eventually to the PlayStation 3 a few years later. It garnered an average score of 87.46% on GameRankings. More than two years after its release, the game has sold over four million copies worldwide.
