WWE: Batista Is Done w/ WWE

There have been multiple reports that former WWE superstar turned actor Batista is done with WWE and with pro wrestling altogether due to his success outside of the professional wrestling business.

Several weeks ago, it was reported that WWE was courting Batista for a retirement match at WrestleMania 31. However, Batista has always said that if he was going to have a retirement match, he would want it to be against Triple H, and by the looks of things, Triple H will be busy with Sting at this year’s WrestleMania.

When Batista returned to WWE at this time last year, he was promised the WWE championship. However, due to the meteoric rise of Daniel Bryan, plans were changed, and due to those changes, Batista grew frustrated with WWE, even though WWE was doing the right thing. Due to his frustration, Batista left the company earlier than expected and refused to lose to Daniel Bryan on his way out.

Batista appeared on Chris Jericho’s podcast several months ago and somewhat reinforced his strong stance against WWE’s PG product. He told Jericho that he felt like WWE was taking all of the wrestlers’ tools away, and they were making it way more difficult to do their jobs successfully.

At this moment, due to his performance in Guardians of the Galaxy, Batista is having a good deal of success in Hollywood, and is currently on-set as the filming of Kickboxer: Vengeance is underway. In the film that also stars legendary action star Jean-Claude Van Damme, MMA star Gina Carano and former UFC welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre, Batista is playing the lead villain Tong Po.

Batista — who will turn 46 in just a couple of days — likely will not be returning to WWE to be part of this year’s WrestleMania 31, and there’s a pretty good chance that he has wrestled his last match as he wants to completely focus on his new career as an actor. However, there is a chance that he could return for next year’s WrestleMania 32 and compete in a retirement match against his mentor Triple H.

WWE does want Batista back, but as of right now, the feeling isn’t mutual. Batista doesn’t have any ill-will towards WWE, but due to his age, he wants to move away from wrestling and focus on becoming even more successful in Hollywood.
