‘WWE 2K15’ PS4 & Xbox One Release Date Gap From Their Counterparts Explained

Greg Thomas has provided an explanation in regards to the release date gap between the PS4, Xbox One, PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of the upcoming cross-generation multiplatform video game, “WWE 2K15.” According to a report from Joystiq Sept. 16, the president of Visual Concepts disclosed that the development teams are trying to create the “most authentic and action-packed” title for the series to date. As a result, they needed more development time on the next-generation version to make sure that it will meet their standard of quality.

“WWE 2K15” was originally announced to launch on Oct. 28 in North America and Oct. 31 in major European regions. However, the lawyers of CM Punk recently sent a letter to the wrestling company, complaining that the wrestler was not being properly compensated for the video game and other merchandises. The former superstar abruptly left WWE earlier this year before his contract ran out.

The aforementioned comments made by Greg Thomas suggested that CM Punk was not the cause of the delay. Instead, the reason for the postponement got pinned to the development teams wanting to improve the experience. No official gameplay video has been shown so far for the upcoming title. Only a few short clips from demo stations have been leaked online. The early footage contained improved graphics but rough-looking gameplay.

The teams behind the development of “WWE 2K15” are Visual Concepts and Yuke’s, the same duo that worked on “WWE 2K14.” The upcoming title is the first in the franchise to be developed on the PS4 and Xbox One, which may have resulted in new issues due to the unfamiliarity of the new hardware architectures.

The “WWE 2K15” release date is still set for Oct. 28 in North America and Oct. 31 in Europe for the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions. The PS4 and Xbox One iterations will now be launching on Nov. 18, the same day as the launches of “Dragon Age Inquisition” as well as the next-generation port of “GTA 5.”
