Review: Captain America ‘The Winter Soldier’ From The Editor Chief
Captain America: The Winter Soldier
Captain America is back in action, but does this movie match the hype?
The film takes place two years after the battle of New York, Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) now works for S.H.I.E.L.D. under the Director Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson). During a simple mission of rescue they find a hard drive that contains classified information, and Steve soon realizes that there is something wrong in S.H.I.E.L.D. The movie is driven by a compelling story, incredible CGI, impeccable action scenes, great acting and well placed humor. As always let’s fall into the discussion about the positives and negatives things about the movie.
Wonder if the legendary shield of the Captain can protect him now.
Positives: Chris Evans always delivers a great performance as Captain America, on screen he never gets boring and it will always entertain. The story is well done, good twist and turns throughout the entire film and you’ll end up satisfied till the end. The Winter Soldier is used well in the movie and his presence is menacing, you know that when he’s there things are about to go down. The film itself is fast paced and never drags, the characterization is marvelous, you literally get to know each important character and their motives behind their actions. The presence of Falcon was kind of scary for me because I thought it was going to be put there as a marketing stunt to make people more interested, instead he is greatly portrait by Anthony Mackie who brings this character to life and makes you care about him, his interactions with Captain America are fun to watch. All the actors involved in this movie (Chris Evans, Samuel L. Jackson, Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Frank Grillo, Cobie Smulder, Robert Redford etc…) are amazing and entertaining. The ending is of course a cliché but honestly I didn’t care it was still awesome.

Negatives: Black Widow wasn’t as good as she was in Avengers, even if she had a good amount of screen time. I didn’t see that spark in her in this movie. Some returning characters could’ve been used better and not just to advance to the next crisis.
Overall Captain America: The Winter Soldier is an amazing movie that deserves to be watched more than once, the runtime is fair (136minutes), this film has literally everything you seek, action, humor, well written dialogues and plot, twist and turns etc… I’ll rate this movie at 9.5/10.
