Karate Kids: Legends Trailer Tells A New Story

In a surprise that’s delighting longtime fans, Karate Kid veterans Jackie Chan and Ralph Macchio are teaming up for the upcoming film Karate Kids: Legends, a new chapter that pays homage to the franchise’s origins while carving out a fresh path for today’s audiences. The film introduces Ben Wang (American Born Chinese) as Li Fong, who steps into the dojo under the watchful eyes of two martial arts icons, in the returning Jackie Chan and Ralph Macchio reprising their respective roles Mr. Han and Daniel LaRusso.

According to Sony Pictures’ official synopsis, Li’s kung fu teacher Mr. Han (Jackie Chan) enlists original Karate Kid Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) for help, and Li learns a new way to fight, merging their two styles into one for the ultimate martial arts showdown.

The film is directed by Jonathan Entwistle with the screenplay written by Rob Lieber and Karen Rosenfelt (The Devil Wears Prada) serving as the producer. Alongside Li Fong, Jackie Chan, and Ralph Macchio the film will also star Joshua Jackson, Sadie Stanley, Ming-Na Wen, Aramis Knight, Danny McBride and Wyatt Oleff.

Karate Kids: Legends will respectfully extend the legacy of the original films and capture the adventurous spirit that made the franchise a cultural touchstone. With both old and new voices guiding the story, the film seems poised to become a landmark moment, reinvigorating the saga for a new generation.

Karate Kids: Legends premieres in theaters on May 30th, 2025.
