In the moments between the extreme, bone-crunching fights and even nastier fatalities, Mortal Kombat X weaves a story that picks up 25 years after the last game — 2011’s Mortal Kombat 9 — left off.
A new trailer for the X reveals a glimpse of many new and returning characters. Along with Cassie Cage — the daughter of Johnny Cage and Sonya Blade — we’re introduced to more kids following in their parents’ footsteps, including Jacqueline Briggs, daughter of Jax, and Takashi Takeda, son of Kenshi and Kung Jin, the descendant of Kung Lao. This team must protect Earth from new threats emerging from the Outworld.
We also spot Rain and Sindel, although we’re not sure they’re playable. Here’s a look at the confirmed playable characters, following yesterday’s announcement. Cassie Cage, D’Vorah, Ermac, Ferra/Torr, Goro, Kano, Kitana, Kotal Kahn, Kung Lao, Quan Chi, Raiden, Reptile, Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Jacqueline Briggs, Takashi Takeda, Kung Jin
Mortal Kombat X will be available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC on April 14.
