‘True Detective – Season 2’ (2015)

“True Detective” has started shooting and new details have been pouring through. The show began filming Nov. 24 and most fans are speculating a summer release date.

Last year, HBO’s True Detective exploded out of the gate as one of the network’s most popular dramas. The stellar performances of Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson drew in viewers and won critical praise. The writing of series creator Nic Pizzolatto and Cary Joji Fukunaga’s direction were also lauded by fans and critics.

Moviepilot released a synopsis for the second season of the anthology show. The plot will focus on the murder of Ben Caspar – a corrupt manager of a Californian city. Caspar is found with satanic symbols on his chest and his murder is tied up with a transportation deal that could solve the gridlock problem

Colin Farrell will play as Detective Ray Velcoro, a corrupt detective torn between the mob and the police. Vince Vaughn plays Frank Semyon, a career criminal who is trying to move into legitimate business. Rachel McAdams will play Detective Ani Bezzerides, a detective who is ethical to the point of putting herself at odds with her peers. Taylor Kitsch will play as Officer Paul Woodrugh, a war veteran and motorcycle officer, running away from a scandal that didn’t actually happen.

Creator Nic Pazzolatto has previously said that the show will feature “the lesser known venues of California.”

The secondary cast includes Rick Springfield, CS Lee, Lolita Davidovich, James Frain, Kelly Reilly, Michael Irby,Abigail Spencer, Leven Rambin, Riley Smith and Adria Arjona

Vaugh said, “Nic Pizzolatto is such a great writer, and so much of this is driven by his stories. I thought Woody and Matthew did an exceptional job with the first season. This one’s very different, though. It’s a totally different story, with its own characters. The thing that’s consistent is the richness of the characters and the quality of the material,” The Boston Herald reported.

Fans are expecting a “True Detective” season 2 trailer to be released soon and most of the current speculation places season 2 being released sometime this summer. Check back often for more “True Detective” season 2 news and updates.
